Privacy Policy
We take your privacy seriously. This policy outlines how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.
Information We Collect
Browser Fingerprinting
We use browser fingerprinting technology to create a unique identifier for your device. This identifier is securely hashed and stored in our database to prevent duplicate voting. We do not store any raw fingerprinting data that could identify you or your device.
IP Addresses
Your IP address is collected temporarily to prevent abuse of our voting system. We hash your IP address before storing it, making it impossible to determine your actual IP from our database. IP data is used only for preventing duplicate votes and rate limiting.
Email Addresses
When you participate in voting, we collect your email address for verification purposes. Your email is hashed before being stored in our database and is only used to send you a one-time verification code. We do not use your email for marketing purposes or share it with third parties.
How We Use Your Information
- Preventing duplicate votes: We use hashed identifiers to ensure each person can only vote once.
- Securing the voting process: Our multi-layered security approach helps maintain the integrity of the voting system.
- Rate limiting: We use IP information to prevent abuse of our system through rate limiting.
- Verification: Email addresses are used solely for sending verification codes to confirm your vote.
Data Retention
We retain your hashed identifiers for as long as necessary to maintain voting integrity. Verification tokens are automatically expired 15 minutes after creation and all unused tokens are periodically purged from our database.
Rate limiting data is automatically deleted after 24 hours. Voting records containing hashed identifiers are kept for the duration of the voting period and may be retained for auditing purposes thereafter.
